The Manali Club House: An Easy Family Day Out from Naggar

The Manali Club House: An Easy Family Day Out from Naggar

Not every day in the mountains has to be a hard trek or a long drive. Sometimes, especially if you're travelling with children or just want an easy, fun afternoon, the Manali Club House is exactly the right call — and it's a simple day trip from Naggar.

What the Club House is

About 2 km from Manali's Mall Road, tucked on the banks of the Manalsu Nala (a lively little tributary of the Beas), the Club House is an old-school amusement and activity complex run by Himachal's tourism corporation. It has been a Manali institution for decades, and its riverside setting among deodars is genuinely pretty even before you factor in the games.

Things to do

There's a surprising amount packed in, split between indoor and outdoor fun:

  • Outdoors: a ropeway and zip line across the stream, river crossing, go-carting, and boating.
  • Indoors: billiards, carrom, table tennis, video games, a library and auditorium, and roller and ice skating rinks.
  • Extras: a restaurant and government handicraft shops where you can pick up Kullu shawls and caps at fair prices.

It's not high-adrenaline adventure — think relaxed, family-friendly activities in a scenic spot rather than a theme park. A short trail from the Club House also leads toward the Vashisht side and makes for a nice add-on walk.

Practical tips

  • Getting there: The Club House is about 22 km from Naggar via Manali. Drive or bus to Manali, then it's a 2 km ride or a pleasant walk from the Mall.
  • Timings: Generally open through the day, from around mid-morning to evening; individual activities may wind down earlier.
  • Fees: Entry is inexpensive, and each activity is charged separately — carry some cash for the rides and games.
  • Best time: Pleasant year-round; spring and autumn are ideal, while the indoor games are a good rainy-day or snowy-day fallback.

Pair it with a stroll on the Mall, the Hadimba temple, or the cafes of Old Manali for a full, low-effort day out.

When the day winds down, skip the Manali crowds and head back to the calm of Naggar. Ghar in the Hills is a friendly homestay in the village, close enough to Manali for easy outings but far enough to feel like a proper mountain retreat. Book your stay and enjoy the best of both.
