McLeodganj gets most of the attention in the Dharamshala area, but a couple of kilometres up the hill is Naddi, a small village with a quieter pace and wide views of the Dhauladhar range. Pair it with nearby Dal Lake and you have an easy, rewarding day in the Kangra region.
Naddi Viewpoint
Naddi sits at about 2,000 m, roughly 3 km from McLeodganj and 14 km from Dharamshala town. The viewpoint is open all year with no formal ticket, and it looks over the Kangra Valley with the snow-streaked Dhauladhar ridge behind. Sunrise and sunset are the best moments, especially in April to June when skies are clear. Winter brings snow on the peaks, and the monsoon turns the slopes bright green with fewer visitors around.
Dal Lake
This small, deodar-ringed lake near McLeodganj is not the famous lake of Kashmir. It is a modest, peaceful spot with a small temple on its bank, popular for a short walk and a fair that draws locals each year. Expect a quiet half hour rather than a long excursion.

- Kalachakra Temple: usually open from about 6 am to 6 pm with free entry.
